In this video, Alarm Grid Team Member Jorge shows DIYers how they can adjust the volume for their Interlogix Simon XTi or Simon XTi-5 Alarm System. This option is available within the settings menu for either system. The user can adjust both the voice volume and the beep volume for the alarm system.

There are many reasons why a Simon XTi or Simon XTi Panel would make various noises. Certain sensor group types are designed to have system produce a chime or speak out the sensor name when the sensor is activated. This can be very useful for letting the user know which sensor was faulted when they have many zones on their system. These panels will also produce soft tones whenever commands are made through the touchscreen. This can be helpful for letting the user know that the system recognized the command input. These alarm systems also speak and beep whenever the system is armed or disarmed.

If a user wants to adjust the system volume, they can do so from the main system settings menu. They will not have to provide a valid system code in order to access this menu. The voice volume and beep volume can be adjusted individually. The voice volume determines how loud the spoken voice announcements will be. The beep volume determines how loud button presses, chimes and system beeps will be. The voice volume can be set between 0 and 4 bars. Setting it to 0 bars will mute this setting. However, the beep volume and only be set between 1 and 4 bars. There is no way to set the option to 0 bars to mute the option. Any volume setting changes that are made will be automatically saved when the user exits the menu and returns to the main screen.
