On the island of Java in Indonesia, the Semeru volcano suddenly activated. When a thick gray smoke poured out of its throat, local residents began to urgently leave the dangerous area.
Videos from the scene hit social networks and instantly spread among Internet users. The footage shows that volcanic activity forced local residents to take care of their own safety, fleeing.
The height of the Semeru volcano is 3676 meters. The eruption immediately caused ash rain in the area of ​​settlements located in the immediate vicinity of the mountain.
As a result, the surrounding area was clouded with ash, which rose to a considerable height and blocked the sunlight.
The last major evacuation of residents due to the aftermath of a volcanic eruption took place in Java a year ago, on December 1, 2020. Ashes and brimstone covered several villages in the vicinity of the mountain, then the authorities evacuated more than 500 local residents.
