After Years In The Restaurant Industry Tanvir And His Wife Now Work Online From Home

Hi, I'm Darren, and I'm here with TANVIR to talk a bit about his online business. So TANVIR when did you start your business?

Hi Darren, thanks for having me today. I started my business, or our business, my wife actually started it. We are expecting again, so she was supposed to come and join me today, but she's not really feeling well. We started in 2018, end of November, so started first week of December 2018.

So about a year and a half?

Yeah!

And what would you say is your favorite thing about your business?

Oh, there's a lot of favorite stuff in this business! I don't even know which one, what to start with. But the flexibility, the first one! And one of the best thing that I really liked about this business, because I always wanted to start a business. I talked to a few people, because my background is from from hospitality industry. I've been working in restaurants and hotels for more than 10 years now. So when I think about business, I always looked into restaurants or you know small coffee shops or something like that.
So, I have been looking, and because those are like startup cost is so high! I even talked to a couple of my, you know people that I know, who has money that you invest, and I will do the job. I'll run the business, kind of like partnership, and that didn't go well either.
And like I said, it's huge investment. Like hundred thousand, two hundred thousand! Even for a small coffee shop in Saskatoon! And they want like hundred thousand upfront! And then he had to do the decoration and all the inventories and stuff.
That never happened. But there was like I always wanted to own a business!
And now the best thing about this business is, I didn't even have to talk to anyone! Didn't have to convince anyone to give me some you know investment or money. I started on my own.
It's very little startup cost, basically nothing, compared to one hundred - two hundred thousand dollars. And I'm running my own business from home!

Yeah, and that is the great thing, there's barely any overhead with this! Like on going, because you're not paying for leases and equipment and all that different stuff!

Exactly! I worked in a restaurant. I worked for one guy who owns his restaurant. He was the boss and I was the manager, and the two of us ran that place. And I know, how many things you need to run it.
Like these guys in the restaurant, in the morning like eight o clock, he opens up. And he is there literally all day, whole evening. And then he goes home at 10:00 p.m. And then I stay until like midnight, and then the same thing next morning. He is there at 8 o clock, and like no life.
And with this business now, we went for holiday, like three places in last seven months! Right, we went to Los Angeles, Dominican, we went to Montreal! And you just take your business with you, in your back pocket. Literally in your back pocket, because I put my phone in my back pocket!

So, you make money while you're on vacation!

Exactly! Yeah, you come back and you see lots of, you know your money is in your account. So, it's amazing! And that is the best part about this business, is you can run it easily, without any degree from the university, or without anything.

I know I don't have a degree now. How would you say your life has changed in the last year and a half since you started this?

Life has changed in a way like I said that I'm more confident. As a person, it changed so many things. Because this business is not only all about money! Money is important, but beside that. like all my business partners are from around the world.
I made some good friends, they're like my family members now! And I've been mentoring them, coaching them. So my coaching skills, my mentoring skills are developing.
As a person, I'm more you know open-minded, and I'm more like I don't I don't get mad anymore, you know I can control myself. There's so many things! The motivation, the dedication, the works flow that I am in a routine right now. I do stuff every day in a routine. So as a person, that changed me. And then most importantly my wife, I and our daughter! We're spending time together! You know that, that never happen, like when I'm in my job, I come home at 3 in the morning. I used to come home at 3 - 2 in the morning. So that is not happening anymore. We are all together at home and we don't have to worry about end of the month, how am I going to pay my mortgage?
