United Airlines, Inc., commonly referred to as United, is a major American airline headquartered at Willis Tower in Chicago, Illinois.[11][12][13] United operates a large domestic and international route network, with an extensive presence in the Asia-Pacific region.[14] United is a founding member of the Star Alliance, the world's largest airline alliance with a total of 28 member airlines.[15] Regional service is operated by independent carriers under the brand name United Express. United was established by the amalgamation of several airlines in the late 1920s, the oldest of these being Varney Air Lines, which was founded in 1926.[1]

United has seven hubs, with Chicago–O'Hare being its largest in terms of passengers carried and the number of departures.[16] The company employs over 86,000 people.[17][18] Through the airline's parent company, United Airlines Holdings, it is publicly traded under NYSE: UAL with a market capitalization of over US$21 billion as of January 2018.[19]

New United First seat

Over the last two years, we've worked with London-based design firm PriestmanGoode to completely redesign the United First seat for our Airbus fleet and Boeing 737-700 and 757-300 aircraft. As we began the process, we asked for feedback from some of our MileagePlus program members, incorporated it into our seat designs, and in the end chose the seat that they chose.

The new United First seat includes the following features:

Wider seat cushions for added personal space
An articulating design that cradles you as you recline, along with a six-way adjustable headrest, for a seat that feels like it’s built around you
A new, patented tray table with a flip-up mobile device holder that fits more than 200 phone and tablet models, so you can continue enjoying inflight entertainment while using your tray table for a meal or beverage
A universal AC power plug, so you can charge your devices on the fly
In-arm storage to hold a tablet or laptop during flight
A personal water bottle compartment in the center console
Double seatback pockets for books, magazines and other personal items
