The other main upgrades are:

A compass (magnetometer), which points you in the right direction when navigating with maps -- the iPhone has had one since the 3GS
An international SOS trigger on cellular watches (no cellular contract needed)
New premium (more expensive) finishes in titanium and ceramic
That's it. If you're not interested in any of these features, you can now get last year's Apple Watch Series 4 on clearance from plenty of retailers. (Right now savings seem to be about $50, but other deals could pop up over the holidays.) If you don't need ECG or the Series 4's larger 40 or 44mm display, Apple is continuing to sell the 38mm and 42mm Series 3 at the new official price of $199, which is basically what the watch's sale price was for most of the last year.

Apple Watch Series 5 review: Still the best smartwatch in town

The Apple Watch Series 5 design hasn't changed. It's still the same as the Series 4, which means it still comes in two sizes - 40mm and 44mm - offers a digital crown and touchscreen display to control everything, and is very much focused on health and getting messages when on the go without looking at your iPhone.

The design might be the same as last year, but this time around it will come in many different materials, two of which will be brand new to this device. The materials to choose from now include aluminium, stainless steel, titanium and ceramic - and within those material choices, Apple is also offering different colours and finishes.

Apple Watch Series 5's always-on display is a game-changer

In 2018, the Apple Watch got a big redesign. Series 4 usheredn in larger displays in Apple Watches as well as a faster processor, an all-new display and an overall better experience.

For 2019, the Apple Watch Series 5 has one hallmark feature: an always-on display. Every model before Series 5 always went to sleep, meaning the clock face or app open would fade away when the Apple Watch wasn't in use. It was one of the main differences between the Apple Watch and a real watch -- the clock face wasn't always there. It has the same processor as the Series 4 paired with a larger amount of internal storage.

Apple fans, the wait is over!

The new Apple Watch Series 5 just dropped on Amazon and other retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, and of course, Apple. The latest smartwatch, which is Prime-eligible on Amazon, starts at just $384 (compared to $399 on Apple.com) and comes with a slew of new tech and design features like a larger face, sleeker case, upgraded heart sensor, and more.
