Cherry Cobbler - The Hillbilly Kitchen. This cobbler combines the flavor and texture of juicy tart cherries with a sweet fluffy vanilla cake topping. Cobbler was eaten for breakfast for hundreds of years. They have only been considered a dessert for about 50 years. I have enjoyed more than a few bowls of cobbler on cold winter mornings. No matter what the occasion a homemade cherry cobbler will be welcome on the table. Sunday dinner, a family reunion, church dinner, potluck, Independence Day cookout, Thanksgiving Dinner, Christmas Dinner or any other time. It is also good for one person or a big crowd. You can double or triple the recipe for big crowds or bake it in individual portions and freeze the extra for single folks.

Because it is made from scratch it is all-natural and you can control the sugar. You can use a low-calorie sweetener or cut the sugar to fit your dietary needs. You can save yourself a little time and prep work by using cherry pie filling.

Around here it is impossible to find cherry pie filling that doesn’t have high fructose corn syrup in it. For me, the taste is worth the few minutes it takes to cook the cherries. Don’t forget the ice cream! The only thing better than fresh cherry cobbler is fresh cherry cobbler with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Remember to put God first! :)
