This is a play-along video to the Beatles song, “In My Life”. The drumming in this video is 100% accurate to what Ringo is playing on the record. This video is great for drummers who want to learn by watching, or also just for anyone who wants to watch it for fun.

A few notes about this song:

-Ringo’s main drum pattern (which he plays during the verses and instrumental section) is played the same throughout the song. The bass drum in the choruses, however, is inconsistent. During the first line of the first chorus, “though I know I’ll never lose affection”. Ringo plays the bass drum with the ride for only the first four beats. During the second one, he plays the bass drum on every beat except for the very first one. For the third one, he plays on all seven beats with the ride. During the second half of every chorus, Ringo only plays the bass drum on the FIRST beat on the ride.

-Coming out of each verse into chorus one and two, Ringo plays two snare hits as a transition before playing the ride. Coming out of the solo though, he plays it straight through and does NOT play that second snare beat.

I play “Ringo Starr” in the Beatles tribute band, American English! If you enjoyed this play-along video, feel free to subscribe so you get notified when more videos like these are uploaded! Thanks for watching!
