Disabling Auto-Stay Arming on a Qolsys IQ Panel 2

In this video, Jarrett shows users how to disable the Auto-Stay Arming feature on a Qolsys IQ Panel Security System. This feature prevents false alarms by reverting the alarm system to Arm Stay Mode if no entry/exit zone is activated during the exit delay period after setting the system to Arm Away.

When a system is Armed Away, the expectation is that there is nobody in the building. A person left in the building would most likely activate interior motion sensors and contacts and cause a false alarm. But there is another arming option called Armed Stay Mode. In this mode, interior sensors will not cause system alarms. That way, the user can move throughout the inside of the building freely, without having to worry about sending the system into alarm.

However, there are some situations where a user will want to Arm Away while still remaining inside the building. The most common reason for this is that they want to test system sensors. But they find that when they Arm Away, the system automatically switches to Arm Stay after the exit delay period. This is because the system has Auto-Stay Arming enabled. While the feature is working properly, it can be frustrating for users who just want to test their systems.

Auto-Stay Arming works in the following way. If no entry/exit zone is faulted during the exit delay period after arming the system away, then the system will automatically switch to Arm Stay Mode instead. The idea is that since no entry/exit zone is activated, there logically must be someone still inside the building. To make sure that the system goes into Arm Away Mode, a user has two options. They can either fault an entry/exit zone during the exit delay period, usually by opening and closing the front door, or they can disable the Auto-Stay Arming feature.
