In this video, Jorge talks about using the Qolsys IQ Siren with a 2GIG GC3 Panel. This is a great way to increase the volume of the system or to provide a reliable sounder for a second location of the building. The siren will activate whenever an an audible alarm occurs on the 2GIG GC3 Alarm System.

The reason that the Qolsys IQ Siren works with the 2GIG GC3 is because the system accepts Z-Wave smart home devices. The Qolsys IQ Siren pairs like any other Z-Wave device. The user must exclude the device before attempting to pair it. They can then add it to the Z-Wave network. For best results, it can be helpful to enroll the siren while it is plugged-in with the system. Jorge does not do this in the video, but he does plug-in the siren prior to testing.

The siren will activate with any audible system alarm. This includes burglary and fire alarms. It will not activate for medical alarms or silent alarms. Since the siren has an internal backup battery, it should work even if it is unplugged. However, you should always keep the siren plugged-in for best practice. Remember, this is a Z-Wave device, so it will need to be within the signal range. You can potentially increase the range by adding additionally Z-Wave devices for the Z-Wave signal to "hop" through. A Z-Wave signal can pass through up to four devices.

To get the siren to stop sounding, simply clear the system alarm. You can do this using your Master Code or any valid system user code. At that point, both the system sounder and the IQ Siren will stop sounding. The siren produces sounds of up to 105 dB, which is considerably louder than the GC3 internal sounder. It also has a small strobe light to provide visual indication of an alarm.
