Getting Power to the Lyric Security System
In this video, Jarrett shows users how to provide power to the Resideo Lyric Security System. The panel receives primary power from a plug-in transformer. A backup battery will provide temporary power if the electricity goes out. The Lyric Alarm Panel will shut down if it is not receiving any power.
The Resideo Lyric Controller is one of the most advanced security systems on the market today. But it requires electricity just like any other panel. Keeping your Lyric System powered on at all times is extremely important. If the system is not powered on, then it can't send out signals during alarms. It also can't be used for Z-Wave functionality, even if you try to control Z-Wave devices from Total Connect 2.0. This is why the Lyric has both a primary and a secondary power source. This helps ensure that the system always has power.
The main power supply for the Lyric is the Honeywell 300-04705 DC Transformer. This transformer is rated at 9VDC, 2.5A. It connects with any standard American wall outlet. It is also the same transformer used with the Resideo LYNX Touch Security Systems. This transformer will provide reliable and consistent power for the system. Since this is a DC transformer, you must connect the wires with polarity in mind. Black should go to negative (-), and red should go to positive (+). We recommend using a Honeywell LT-Cable to complete the connection. If you don't have an LT-Cable, you can use stranded 2-conductor wire. We recommend 18-gauge wire, but slightly thicker or thinner wire should work just fine.
The Lyric also has a backup battery to keep the system powered on if the power goes out. This backup battery will be slowly storing a charge while the system is running on outlet power. That way, it will be ready for when the power goes out. The standard backup battery will keep the system running for up to four (4) hours. The user can also upgrade to a 24-hour backup battery. Keep in mind that the battery will lose its ability to store a charge after about three (3) to five (5) years. The user will then need to replace the backup battery.
