Life and discography of Ian McDonald. He was a founding member of both King Crimson and Foreigner and produced and performed on dozens of albums over the years.

He is a multi-instrumentalist that has played more instruments than anyone has time to learn about. Some of the primary instruments he used in King Crimson were Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, and Mellotron. In Foreigner, he played guitar, keyboards, and sang backing vocals.

This video highlights Ian McDonald's most important contributions to music history, from his beginnings with Giles, Giles and Fripp, which led to him being the primary composer for 1969's "In the Court of the Crimson King," to a final album featuring his son, Maxwell called "Bad Old World" under the name Honey West.

Some of his other accomplishments include his 1999 album, "Drivers Eyes," his time with the 21st Century Schizoid Band, his time with Steve Hackett from Genesis, his contribution to the first 3 Foreigner albums including "Double Vision" and "Head Games," and the 1970 album, "McDonald and Giles" with fellow ex-King Crimson member, Michael Giles.

Unfortunately, Ian lost his battle with cancer on February 9th, 2022, at the age of 75. Of course, we will continue to listen to and share his music throughout the years so that he is never forgotten.
