The Xbox Series X includes a 4k UHD Blu-ray player which can output DolbyVision and Dolby Atmos True-HD sound.

Dolby True-HD sound is the lossless sound format that so far is only available on 4k Blu-ray discs. Streaming services only provide Dolby Digital Plus which is compressed.

Getting Dolby Atmos True-HD sound from my 4k Blu-ray discs was an integral part of the design for my upgraded Home Theater system.

I play most of my games on my PC, but there are some that I'm planning on playing on the Xbox, so that's a bonus from selecting that as a Blu-ray player. The Sony PlayStation V doesn't support DolbyVision or Dolby Atmos, so that was a non-starter for me.

The 2012 home theater had a Sony 34" KD-34XBR970 high-definition TV, a Denon AVR-2807 7.1 receiver, and Onyko SKS-HT540 7.1 speakers.
