The history of the American Pit Bull Terrier is very similar to the Bull Terrier and Staffordshire Bull Terrier breeds.

These breeds are derived from crosses made between the Old English Bulldoge and the White Terrier.

In the eighteenth century, there in England, it was common sports of fights between Bulls and Dogs, Rats and Dogs and even fights between the dogs themselves.
Because of this, dog breeders crossed these Old English Bulldoge and White Terrier to find a dog that was agile, resistant and fearless for these sports, but also docile with humans.

Some copies of these dogs were exported to the United States and from there, the American Pit Bull Terrier was created.

The characteristics of the American Pit Bull Terrier are that of a medium-sized dog, of solid build, short coat, well defined musculature.
This breed is powerful and athletic. He is a focused dog and very determined in his goals.
They are sporty dogs and always need to be on the move.

Its main features are:
- Height should always be proportional to your weight.
- Colors: all except merle.
- Hair: Short and medium size.
