Anita's Lymphoma Survivor Story

Anita Moorjani almost died from lymphoma in 2006. For four years, this disease had devoured her body. It started with a lump in my neck, and then it spread throughout my lymphatic system.

By the end of four years, Anita had tumors, some of them the size of lemons. Anita's muscles had deteriorated entirely. She weighed about 85 pounds. Anita had big gaping open skin lesions where the toxins oozed out of her body. She wasn't able to digest any food. Anita couldn't walk because her cancer affected her muscles.

On February the 2nd, 2006, she went into a coma and had a near-death experience. Anita was aware of everything going on all around her. She saw everything the doctors were doing.

Anita had expanded out of her body. She was aware of her physical body. Anita could see it lying there on that hospital bed, but she was no longer attached to it.

It felt as though she could be everywhere at the same time. Anita was aware of her brother and family members.

She felt as if she was connected to everybody, like all the doctors treating her. It felt as though we all shared the same consciousness.

Within five days after Anita woke up from her coma, the tumors in her body had shrunk by 70%. After five weeks, she was released from the hospital to go home.

The most important thing that she learned was to focus on love. She found out that she got cancer because she didn't love herself. Loving yourself is as important as loving everybody else. Anita also found out that love keeps you safe.

Laughter, humor, and finding your joy in life are also important. Your life is a gift. Even the challenges that come to you are a gift. Love yourself unconditionally, and just be yourself.
