Candice Bergen, the interim leader of the Conservative Party, reacted Monday evening to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's use of the Emergencies Act to help put an end to anti-COVID-19 mandate protests.

"Conservatives want the blockades to end peacefully and swiftly, in a fashion that gives Canadians the feeling that their prime minister has listened to, heard, and appreciated them." We're concerned that the prime minister's initiatives will have the opposite impact," Bergen added.

Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Quebec, she added, are against activating the Emergencies Act.

She stated that the Conservatives will examine and discuss what Trudeau is proposing before approving or rejecting his plan for the Emergencies Act.
