Scuba International Diving Exhibition

SCUBA stands for Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. These initials date back to 1939 in the US Navy to designate the breathing apparatus of US military divers. Just like radar, this acronym is used so often that it is no longer written in capital letters and has become a common word. This system was originally designed by Jacques Yves Cousteau and Emile Gagnan in 1942 to 1944.
