Retired From The Navy - Garret And Jill Live Their Dream Lives In Barbados Thanks To Online Business

Garrett and Jill started their online business in 2016. Spending time with their children has been the best change in their lives since starting their online business full time. Garrett and Jill, now travel and enjoy family time with no worry about bills they can not pay.

Hi, I'm Darren. And I'm one half of Darren and Mike, and I'm here with Garrett and Jill today to talk about their online business. So when did you guys start your business?

We started in September 2016, yeah.

What did you guys do before, like what are your backgrounds and are you still working now?

Well I used to work in the restaurant industry for about ten years and before that I was kind of going to school. It didn't really amount to anything, except student loan debt. Yeah Jill's worked in every restaurant in town, since I've known her. I was in the Navy for 11 years before I started working online. And yeah, we both quit our jobs since then, I left my career way back behind in the dust. Just to do this. We have 3 young kids at home so that's kind of like a job on it's own.

What is your favorite thing about this business?

For me it's the flexibility to be able to work when you want and being able to spend time with our kids. Yeah I'll second that, it was, you know with my career in the navy, I was gone a lot of the time. You know I would be sailing for months on end. And Jill would end up being a single parent full time, and quit her job. So now, you know we're working right now, and get to spend all the time with the kids in quarantine, or not in quarantine. It's just, it's nice to be able to parent our kids. Yeah and traveling too. Traveling was always a big thing for me. I never got to travel as a kid. So last year alone, how many vacations? Like 7 or 8 something, but just being able to work from being in a really cool place in the world, I thought was awesome.

You might have covered this already but what would you say is the biggest life change that you've had from working online?

Yeah I think just quitting our jobs, that was huge. That was, we were in a financial position that we weren't happy being in. Counting every single receipt, recording everything, trying to stay above water. Yeah, you know the position we're in now, that is no longer what we do. Yeah so that's been pretty big for us, and the time with the family has just been phenomenal.
