Do not know if there are so many who like that kind of music.
I first heard this song when I lived in Portugal in 2003. Watched a BBC documentary about Gram Parsons. This is a song by Flying Burrito Brothers. Chris Hillman and Gram Parson created the song. Chris Hilman played in The Byrds, and so did Gram Parsons in The Byrds in later years.

Gram Parsons was a man who was passionate about country music. Who even persuaded The Byrds to record a country record, "Sweetheart of the Rodeo".

Gram Parsons is best known for his work with The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers.
He also popularized what was called "Cosmic American Music", a hybrid of country, rhythm and blues, soul, folk, and rock. His relatively short career was described by AllMusic as "enormously influential" for country and rock, "mixing the two genres to the point that they became inseparable."

Several former members of The Byrds continued with their own careers, either as solo artists or as members of groups such as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Flying Burrito Brothers, McGuinn, Clark & Hillman and the Desert Rose Band.
Gram Parsons was one of Keith Richards' best friends. He affect The Rolling Stones to recorded some country rock songs, including "Death Flowers".
Gram Parson was also in love with Emmylou Harris, and they have recorded several songs in teams, including the song "Love Hurts".
Gram Parsons has also recorded "Wild Horses" by The Rolling Stones.

I think Gram Parsons has a very sensitive voice. Tt is said that there was not a dry eye on the ladies when he sang.
Gram Parson was just 26 years old and died a tragic death.
His health deteriorated due to several years of drug abuse which culminated in his death from a toxic combination of morphine and alcohol in 1973 at the age of 26.

You think when you hear it, that it is about something other than what it actually is about.
The song is about Los Angeles, specifically the music industry in LA.
Chris Hillman provided the opening line and Gram Parsons helped him complete the song.
Much of it is inspired by Chris Hillman reflecting on the bitter end of The Byrds.
When The Flying Burrito Brothers sings, "On the thirty-first floor / Your gold-plated door / Won't keep out the Lord's burning rain," these lines probably refer to the group's bitter feelings about former manager, Larry Spector. In a Los Angeles Times article about the song, Hillman said: "Spector was a thief, it was that simple. And his apartment - he lived on the 31st floor behind this awful, gaudy golden door."
Chris Hillman lives and was born, December 4, 1944. He is 77 yers old.
