Making Green Super Foods Powder

Getting enough greens into your diet can be a challenge. You can buy a super greens mix from a health food store but they are expensive. You can make your own at home for a fraction of the cost using spinach, kale, collards, parsley, spring mix, turnip greens and even carrot tops. If you have a garden save some of your greens to dehydrate into a powder. You can also buy fresh organic collards or turnip greens at the grocery store for about a dollar. The advantage to making a greens powder is that it lasts for a long time and is shelf stable. I don't know about you but I've been guilty of leaving vegetables in the bottom of my fridge for too long and they go bad before I get a chance to eat them. This is one way to eliminate waste while building your pantry storage. Some of the best ways to use the powder is to sprinkle on a salad, add to dips and salad dressing, mix in a smoothie, add to tea or water and drink a shot, mix in scrambled eggs to make green eggs and ham for your kids, add to soups or sprinkle in a sandwich.
In this video I am using the Excalibur food dehydrator. I absolutely love it and use it much more than I thought I would when I bought it. It is a work horse and well worth the money. There are others on the market to choose from. If you do not have a food dehydrator you can dry them in your oven on a very low temperature, about 200 degrees. Make sure you keep an eye on them so they don't burn.
I apologize for the low volume in this video. One of my children was sleeping on couch and I was trying to be quiet and not wake them but I didn't want to miss out on recording a video while I was making my greens. I appreciate your patience as I am still learning the tips and tricks for making and editing videos by myself with no fancy equipment.
