The ousting of former Conservative leader Erin O'Toole means the race is on for the party's top job. While Manitoba MP Candice Bergen has been elected as the interim leader, Global’s chief political correspondent David Akin breaks down the potential contenders and the challenges they're facing.

Nine candidates were in the running for the interim position on Wednesday night, MP Scott Reid, the chair of the national Conservative caucus, said in a statement.

The selection of Bergen came hours after O’Toole was booted from the leadership role, with 73 MPs voting to remove him and just 45 lining up in his support.
