Sen. Lankford Slams Biden: This Crisis Is No Accident - ACLJ Takes Action

The ACLJ has filed another major lawsuit against the Biden Administration. This lawsuit pertains to border policies enacted by the Biden Administration that have created a humanitarian nightmare at our southern border.

Senator James Lankford pointed out how the Biden Administration has yet to respond to this ongoing crisis:

"The Biden Administration’s proposal and their detailed plan on what to do on the border is working exactly as they planned for it to work. No one will ever convince me this is an accident. If this was unintentional, they would have already responded to be able to stop it."

The data says it all. In December alone, there were 178,840 encounters at our border, completely overwhelming our border patrol. Border officials are now reporting that they are expecting around 9,000 border arrests per day in the coming months – totaling around 63,000 arrests a week. And that is just the people that the officials catch and arrest. What about the getaways that they don’t catch?

To make matters worse, it is not just the dangerous people that are crossing our border, it is what they are bringing with them. It has been reported that there has been a 1,066% increase in fentanyl at entry ports along our southern border putting millions of Americans at risk. This increase comes at a time when America is experiencing a drug epidemic of an estimated 100,306 people in the United States dying in the last year from drug overdose.

ACLJ Director of Government Affairs Thann Bennett explained all of the issues that occur with an overwhelmed border:

"It is a multi-layered crisis all across the line. I totally agree with Senator Lankford on this. I actually do think this is by design. . . . Quite frankly, if you look at the FOIA litigation, the FOIA lawsuit that we are filing today, we hit on all of these points because this is not just an issue of mass crossings at the borders that are illegal and then not being able to process them. It’s the domino effect – it’s the trafficking that occurs, it’s the recycling of children . . . and it’s the drug epidemic that is literally killing mostly our young people all across the country. . . . With these 63,000 arrests, where will they house them all? We know in a lot of cases they are actually not trying to house them. We know they are intentionally bussing them all across the country and then just releasing them into the population. So it is no longer a border problem, it is a problem that’s really spreading all across our country. . . . We’ve only touched the tip of the iceberg on the drug issue, the United States government is literally a part of the problem. They are not only not trying to solve it, they are perpetuating the problem."

The Biden Administration is enabling the drug problem here in the U.S. President Biden has just issued an executive order titled “Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government.” This order is a $30 million grant program that will be distributed among local governments to fund safe smoking kits and supplies for drug addicts – which entails funding for crack pipes.

ACLJ Senior Counsel Andy Ekonomou summed up why this is not the solution:

"In other words, it’s like giving an alcoholic a drink of liquor and saying that is going to help you out because this is a higher quality bourbon than the kind that you have been drinking, so you drink this. All that does is exacerbate the problem and make it worse for the drinker, in this case, the drug user. I cannot imagine being in the United States of America in the year 2022 thinking that my government is spending 1 dollar on providing drug paraphernalia to drug users instead of using that for drug interdiction."
