Russia condemns the United States' decision

Russia has condemned the United States' decision to send additional troops to eastern Europe to support its NATO ally amid continuing fears of an invasion of Ukraine. Moscow said it was a "destructive" move that increased tensions and reduced the scope of a political solution. The Pentagon said 2,000 US troops would be sent from North Carolina to Poland and Germany, and another 1,000 already in Germany would be sent to Romania.
