How to Make Disciples of All Nations: The Last Commandment of Jesus

Welcome to the Church of Fire! Today, we are talking about making disciples of all nations, making disciples who make disciples and what does discipleship mean.

Let's start with the Gospel of Matthew and making disciples scripture. Matthew 28 19 - 20 - "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

A lot of people believe that you make disciples by teaching them. While it is true that you would teach your disciples, it does not necessarily mean that whoever you teach will become your disciple for obvious reasons. But how then? Well, here, we need to ask, how did Jesus make disciples? Jesus taught his disciples the primary rules of loving God above all else, and loving others as they loved themselves, Jesus taught his disciples to pray and many other things, some of which the disciples of Jesus Christ were not even yet understanding and yet, they continued to follow him, while learning his teachings. How and why? Now if we can understand that, we can understand the true meaning of discipleship, and understanding that allows us to go into the world and make disciples of all nations!
