The Beatles arrived in America during one of the most tumultuous periods in history, when it seemed like everything was changing. The band's arrival coincided with a generation that was leaving its childhood behind, exploring new ideas, protesting against war, racism and sexism, experimenting with drugs and sex, and listening to rock 'n' roll for the first time.
