The Whickham's Fancy is another fly from Ray Bergman's book, Trout. It is on Plate #9 and on page 449. It is another old pattern dating back to the 1880's. With the brighter Brown or Ginger in the hackle and the gold tinsel and wire it makes for a very flashy attractor pattern. The original recipe did not call for a rib but it is most often tied with one these days to help protect the palmered hackle and help the fly last longer. It is a fun fly to tie and this video introduces a couple of easy techniques for securing the hackle and tying in the wings. - Enjoy
