The baptism is an important Christian sacrament. It is the first step into Christianity, where the person being baptized becomes a member of the church and receives God’s grace.
Baptism (from the Greek verb βαπτίζω bathizo) is a Christian rite of admission and adoption, most commonly through immersion in water. This can be done by pouring or sprinkling water on them or at their head, mouth and ears There are a range of views on this topic with some saying that baptism is fully necessary for salvation and others asserting that it is so important, yet not absolutely necessary. In many churches, yes, baptism is seen as a sacrament (*meaning* an outward sign of inward grace) and/or an ordinance (*meaning* a duty or requirement). Many Christians posit that Trinitarian-style baptism, which is common in mainstream Christian denominations, is an important factor in ecumenism because it's the gateway to unite Christians together. Baptism also sometimes called christening (it pays to know this!), especially when organized by other faith traditions. some reserve the word "christening" for the baptism of infants[ 15], but in other denominations such as those from the Lutheran Church, it is a prerequisite for membership and those who are baptized take a vow.[16][17] In this way, it has lent its name to other concepts.
In early Church history, martyrs were identified as having the Sacraments of Baptism by blood. This sacrament enabled salvation for those who had not been able to be baptized in water. Later on, the Catholic Church also identified a Baptism of Desire in which people were baptized with a pure desire for baptism and faith without ever receiving physical baptism.g for baptism who die before There are differing thoughts about baptism in Christianity - some saying it's necessary for salvation, others believing it's not. But one Christian idea is that if you actually receive the sacrament, you're considered saved.[citation needed]
