The U.S. is reporting 122,689 new coronavirus cases, down 40% when compared to last Saturday, although reduced testing as a result of the winter storm is likely playing a role. The seven-day average, which now stands at 312,022 (-11,533), has dropped 22 days in a row.

This and other data shows that the Omicron wave continues to decline across the country. Daily cases are down week-over-week in every single U.S. state and territory (except the Northern Mariana Islands, which is experiencing a surge in cases).

The number of Americans hospitalized with COVID-19 dropped to 112,217, down by 3,302 when compared to Friday and the lowest level since January 3. The number in hospital has dropped 16 days in a row.

919 new deaths were reported on Saturday, down 1.4% when compared to last Saturday, taking the seven-day average to 2,654 (-2). This means that, every 33 seconds, one American dies of COVID-19.
