Attwater's Prairie Chicken Reintroduction Program

Captive breeding helps sustain the Attwater's prairie chicken population at Attwater Prairie Chicken National Wildlife Refuge in Texas. Every year we bring birds from our captive breeding partners and reintroduce them to the wild in a two-week process.
