Episode 4: The Origins of Chivalry. The word 'chivalry' comes from the Roman word for cavalry, 'Caballarius.' It refers to the Iranian cavalrymen posted to Northern Britain, by the Roman emperor, Marcus Aurelius. But, in fact, chivalry referred to the Mithraic principles observed by these Iranian cavalrymen. In other words, chivalry literally meant 'cavalry behavior.'
