First Light King Bite / Michigan King Salmon Fishing / Fall King Salmon Fishing 2021

In this salmon fishing video I am hooking up on that first light king bite. In my opinion the last hour of dark through the first hour of sunlight can be the best window for a good strong king salmon bite. This was 2 different mornings from salmon camp in 2021. The other 2 mornings we slept in lol. If you can make it to the river 2 hours before sunrise it can really put you in a good position to fish the prime time. So often king salmon are just plain on the move but during this transitional time of day you get a mix of fresh fish pushing into a hole and acting territorial and fish that are looking to hunker down in a hole and chill out. Other salmon may blast right by but the others open up an opportunity for aggression strikes and some hungry egg biters. It is scientifically known that salmon basically stop feeding but even boot salmon can retain the ability to digest and gain needed energy boosts from eating eggs and baitfish. I once caught a mostly spawned out female coho in February and I caught it on a stationary bottom rig with a live shiner parked in some slack water. So don't come at me with your "salmon dont eat in the river" nonsense...
