How to Float Fish, Fight and Land Your Very First STEELHEAD!

In this video, I go fishing with an old buddy that I've known since early public school many years ago. He had never been float fishing for Steelhead before, so I got together a spare rod and reel, waders,wading boots, jacket and winter clothing for the occasion and we hit the river.

I like to put those I fish with that aren't used to this style of fishing, or used to fishing in general, in the spots I know I've had success in the past and let them have first crack at it. I told him roughly where to cast and let the bait drift and he ends up hooking into the first fish of the day, and a beauty at that! I walk him through how to fight the fish, how to increase the drag, how to pump the rod by reeling down to pick up slack in the line, then slowly pull back as you feel the weight of the fish come towards you and repeat.

I hope that those of you that watch this video will learn how to float fish for Steelhead and have just as much fun as my friend and I did!
