Set Goals. If you can only set one weight-loss goal, choose a goal that takes into account how much time you have and how much effort you’re willing to make. For example, if you want to lose 10 pounds in a month and exercise for 30 minutes each day, that’s not very realistic or sustainable. However, if your goal is 5 pounds per month with no exercise requirement at all, then it might be possible for you. And if your goal is based on something easy like just drinking more water throughout the day (hey—easy changes often lead to big results), then do that instead of setting an unrealistic number on a scale.
