2022 Audi Etron GT RS - Exterior and Interior Details (Awesome Car)
2022 Audi e-tron GT Starting at $103,445
Pros With a combination of ride and handling, useful regenerative braking paddles, the RS delivers incredible acceleration. Cons Relatively short range, low rear seat height, very light steering effort. Verdict The Audi e-tron GT stands out as a stylish and sporty EV, but it's more expensive than the Tesla Model S and lacks a lot of range.
Overview
The 2022 Audi e-tron GT is a bold electric vehicle with deep engineering ties to the Porsche Taycan. In fact, the two skinny four-door Gran Turismos have been designed together and feature an advanced 800-volt powertrain that allows for faster charging and helps deliver consistent performance. The e-tron GT's twin electric motors, which develop between 522 and 637 horsepower depending on the model, use an innovative two-speed transmission for breathtaking takeoff. Audi differs from Porsche with more precise bodywork and a busier front end. Inside, the e-tron is just as elegant and tech-savvy, with a choice of beautiful materials and high-tech features. While the 2022 e-tron GT may just be a redesigned Taycan, it's another welcome alternative to the popular Tesla Model S.
What's new in 2022? The E-tron GT is a new car for 2022 and is the latest all-electric model in Audi's electric vehicle lineup. It joins the e-tron SUV and Sportback models; The next arrival will be the Q4 e-tron SUV. The e-tron GT will go on sale this summer. Pricing and which one to buy Premium Plus: $103,445 Prestige: $110,645 RS: $143,445
With up to 637 horsepower and sportier intent than regular e-tron GT models, it's hard not to find the RS variant most desirable. Unfortunately, it costs $40,000 more than the base Premium Plus model. So, we would recommend the mid-range e-tron GT Prestige, which offers the best combination of features and value.
Engine, transmission and performance With a pair of electric motors that create an electrified version of Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system, the regular e-tron GT generates up to 522 horsepower, while the RS version peaks at 637 horsepower. That power is translated into exhilarating acceleration with its innovative two-speed transmission that features first gear for starting and second top gear for optimal efficiency. A sophisticated cooling system means the battery can withstand repeated cycles without the typical heat-related degradation. Audi is also eschewing the traditional single-pedal driving of its electric sports car, instead delivering a more natural feel. The E-tron GT is available with full steering, adjustable air suspension and wheel sizes from 19 to 21 inches. We drove the RS version andappreciated its smooth ride, stable handling and the ability to select regenerative braking settings, which can be adjusted using the paddles on the steering wheel. Range, charging and battery
Each e-tron GT is powered by an 85.0 kWh lithium-ion battery, and Audi claims it will provide up to 238 miles of range. Since the e-tron's battery has slightly more usable capacity than the 83.7kWh battery that powers the 2021 Taycan 4S, which is EPA-rated and has a range of 227 miles, we're willing to bet the non-RS variant will have a similar figure. . The E-tron GT can also be charged from 5 percent to 80 percent battery capacity in 23 minutes using a standard 270kW DC fast charger.
Fuel economy and real-world fuel consumption The 2022 e-tron GT is rated at 82 MPGe combined; the RS version falls short of this mark. By comparison, the most efficient Taycan is rated on par Once we have a chance to test it on our 75 mph fuel economy route, which is part of our extensive testing regime, we will be able to gauge how efficient the electrified sedan is in the real world. . Inside, the e-tron GT combines quirky and functional elements. The cockpit includes multiple digital displays on the corner instrument panel and high-end trim.
