Daniel 9:1–10:21 Psalm 137:7–9 Proverbs 29:15 1 John 1:1–10
- The first year of Darius - understands Jeremiah's prophesy, specified, 70 years in the desolation of Jerusalem
- Daniel prays with sackcloth, fasting and ashes, God keeps his covenant and mercy with those who love him, His commandments, 5we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments.
- O LORD righteousness belongs to you, you have driven them because of Israel's unfaithfulness,
- for the LORD our God is righteous in all the works which He does, though we have not obeyed His voice. 15And now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and made Yourself a name, as it is this day—we have sinned, we have done wickedly!
- Your name; for we do not present our supplications before You because of our righteous deeds, but because of Your great mercies. 19O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive!
- Gabriel again comes to Daniel, tells Daniel and says you are greatly beloved, restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince ... that's Jesus back in the land,
- End times prophecy and vision of the Tribulation
- Daniel 10 - MacArthur's note on dates the precision of Daniel is amazing: 7 weeks or 49 years, possibly closing Nehemiah’s career in the rebuilding of the “street and wall,” as well as the end of the ministry of Malachi and the close of the Old Testament; 2) 62 weeks or 434 more years for a total of 483 years to the First Advent of Messiah. This was fulfilled at the Triumphal Entry on 10 Nisan, A.D. 30 (Matt. 21:1–11). The Messiah will be “cut off” (a common reference to death); and 3) the final 7 years or 70th week of the time of Antichrist (v. 27). Roman people, from whom the Antichrist will come, will “destroy the city” of Jerusalem and its temple in A.D. 70.
- Daniel sees a man in White Linen 6His body was like beryl, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like torches of fire, his arms and feet like burnished bronze in color, and the sound of his words like the voice of a multitude. 7And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me did not see the vision; Michael is going to fight the evil angels and shows that Heaven is involved in the rise of nations etc.
- Psalm 137:7-9 Israel's judgment by Babylon,
- Proverbs 29:15 - Rod of discipline for children brings wisdom child left to himself brings shame to his mother. - isn't that the truth
- 1 John 1:1-10 - John explains he is testifying about eternal life and they saw and touched etc. these things are written that your joy may be full,
- Walk in the light the blood Jesus cleanses us from all sin, if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us,
- MacArthur points out John knew Jesus personally,
- Notes on true vs false believers - genuine habit of truth and light living, a genuine Christian does not walk in darkness, In the lives of genuine believers, a continual confession of sin is an indication of genuine salvation (v. 9).
- Macarthur's note
