A horrible scene of carnage in Franklin Tennessee on Nov.30, 1864

Carnton Plantation, built in 1826, was one of the premier farms in Middle Tennessee. On November 30, 1864, the home and the McGavock who lived there found themselves in the middle of one of the most dramatic events of the Civil War.
Franklin, Tennessee site of the Battle of Franklin in which many Confederate soldiers were killed and injured and the Confederacy also lost 6 Generals in this battle as well as hundreds of other officers. It was a horrible battle but a true turning point toward the the final surrender of Robert E Lee. January 27, 2022
