Amos 8:1–9:15 Psalm 143:1–6 Proverbs 30:1–4 Revelation 6:1–17
- Amos 8 - a basket of Summer fruit signals the end,
- Amidst this horrible judgment the word of the LORD they will seek but not find it...
- And break them on the heads of them all. I will slay the last of them with the sword. He who flees from them shall not get away, basically God is going to find and judge them wherever they are, Though they hide from My sight at the bottom of the sea, From there I will command the serpent, and it shall bite them;
- woah, so yeah God is sovereign over every detail,
- The LOrd GOD of hose he who touches the earth and it melts,
- People like to think their is a difference here in the OT judgment of God, but they aren't looking at the cross, God crushed Jesus with his righteous/wrath/hell on the cross, to save his Children in that sense he paid our wrath debt others will face his wrath,
- Macarthur's note: 15 I will plant them in their land, And no longer shall they be pulled up From the land I have given them,” Says the LORD your God. 9:15 no longer shall they be pulled up from the land. The ultimate fulfillment of God’s land promise to Abraham (Gen. 12:7; 15:7; 17:8) will occur during Christ’s millennial reign on earth (Joel 2:26–27).
- Psalm 143:1-6
- Psalm of David - 2 Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, For in Your sight no one living is righteous.
- Notice what the Bible teaches here, we are all sinful,
- I muse on the work of Your hands. 6 I spread out my hands to You; My soul longs for You like a thirsty land.
- David loved the Triune God in a real and personal way.
- Proverbs 30: - Agur is a bit hard on himself - too stupid to be a man, MacArthur notes he reflects humility, hatred of arrogance, and a keen theological mind,
- 4 Who has ascended into heaven, or descended? Who has gathered the wind in His fists? Who has bound the waters in a garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is His name, and what is His Son’s name, If you know?
- MacArthur's Notes - 30:4 Who . . . What? These questions can be answered only by revelation from God. A man can know the “what” about creative wisdom through observation of the physical world and its inner workings, but cannot know the “who.” The “who” can be known only when God reveals Himself, which He has in Scripture. This is the testimony and conclusion of Job (Job 42:1–6), Solomon (Eccl. 12:1–14), Isaiah (Is. 40:12–17; 46:8–11; 66:18–19),
- Revelation 6 - Seals breaking judgments
- 1st-white horse, conquer -
- 2nd horse, fiery red - no peace, people kill each other,
- 3rd horse - black horse - inflation -
- 4th horse - pale -death, hell followed with him, (four horseman of the Apocalypse)
- 5th seal - martyrs under the alter , how long O' lord, here's why I am confident some believers go through the tribulation: earth?” 11Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.
- 6th seal - earthquake, sun black, blood moon, sky rolls up like a scroll, great men, rich men, might men, hid themselves in caves, but we just learned in Amos.... the Wrath of the LAMB,
- Day 16 MacArthur's notes - Amos 9:11 - fulfillment. The temporal allusions to a future time (“On that day,” 9:11), when Israel will “possess the remnant of Edom, and all the Gentiles” (9:12), when the Lord “will plant them in their land, and no longer shall they be pulled up from the land I have given them” (9:15), all make it clear that the prophet is speaking of Messiah’s return at the Second Advent to sit upon the throne of David (Is. 9:7), not the establishment of the church by the apostles.
