Matthew 7:12 - Is the Golden Rule Really Universal?

So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
Matthew 7:12

Yeshua (aka Jesus) often spoke in broad generalities when he really meant his words to be understood more narrowly. Clearly it's not always do to others as we would have them do to us, because not everyone likes my taste in music or literature. Some people don't take kindly to random acts of kindness. Fortunately, he narrowed it down for us in the very same verse: "For this is the Law and the Prophets." The Golden Rule IS the Law and the Prophets. The Law and the Prophets IS the Golden Rule. You, as a righteous, God-fearing individual, should do to others as a righteous, God-fearing individual would have them do to him.
