Tim Langan - Millennium Fanfare

When I was originally commissioned to write this piece back in 1999 to celebrate the New Millennium, I wanted to try to compose something that was powerful and bright and gave out a feeling of happiness and hopefulness for the start of our journey into our third millennium together here on Earth. ( based on when they started counting time in our current format)
I decided that the best way to do this was to combine some musical ideas I had written as a youngster at the piano and combine them with some fanfare and several types of orchestrations. (A combination of old and new ideas - which is why I included the first 2 photos in the slideshow, as these represent my ages at those times)
I did all of this on my Korg 01Wfd synthesizer with its built in 16-track sequencer. This song appeared on my sixth Keyboard composition CD which was entitled "Passing Through The Pink" - There are a few points in the piece where I exceeded the polyphony of the synth and some minor drop outs are noticeable, but over all I felt the piece turned out very close to what I was looking for and was what I was commissioned to do. Ratings and comments are always appreciated, so please feel free to leave them. Thanks and I hope you enjoy the slideshow.
