IT'S ABOUT THE LOVE OF INDIANS FOR RAILWAY STATION

I still remember travelling on trains as a child, my most memorable experiences were on overnight journeys having the delicious cutlets that were served on board, along with tea and biscuits, all while looking out at the beautiful scenery. The feeling I got travelling on those trains was that of excitement, adventure, and pure fun. However, that was a much simpler time in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and I feel over the years Railways has lost the ability to excite people.

Therefore, when I say ‘I want to bring the charm back to Indian Railways’, I mean I want to make sure rail travel is once again a delight for passengers, and gets them excited about travelling. I want passengers to have positive memories and ensure the best in class service and comfort is offered to them. I believe that by modernising Railways and focusing on passengers we can make journeys an adventure again.

The charm is slowly being brought back to Railways and since 2014 Indian Railways has developed into a world class mode of transportation with passenger amenities on par with the rest of the world, and over the last 1 year we have further pushed the boundaries of what can be achieved by Indian Railways.

Here are a few ways Railways is bringing back the charm:

1. The Future of Indian Railways: India’s first Semi High Speed Train, "Vande Bharat Express" was flagged off in February, 2019 and is the future of train travel in India. It has features like automatic doors, GPS based audio-visual passenger information system, on-board WiFi, and plush interiors

2. Upgradation of Passenger Coaches: A number of coaches have been upgraded with state of the art facilities and features. Some examples are Tejas trains with ultra modern facilities, Gatimaan trains a high speed luxury train, Deen Dayalu and Anubhuti coaches with modern features.

3. Introduction of Vistadome Coaches: Vistadome coaches have been designed to give passengers a panoramic view of their surroundings. Currently, 3 vistadome coaches are running in the Araku and Kashmir Valley. We will now introduce Vistadome Coaches on all Mountain Railways of Indian Railways

4. Airport Like Stations:Indian Railways has improved illumination at 100 stations to bring an airport like feel to railway stations. 90 more stations are will also be upgraded by April, 2019

5. Connecting India to the Digital World:In order to keep passengers entertained at stations, ensure they never lose touch with their loved ones, and make sure their businesses never suffer, Indian Railways has introduced WiFi at more than 800 stations. A further 775 stations will be covered with WiFi service by March, 2019.

6. Ensuring Ease of Travel for Spiritual Travellers: We have introduced a number of trains which cover religious routes. For example the Ramayana Express retraces the epic journey of Lord Ram, while the Buddhist Circuit Train covers areas associated with Lord Buddha.

7. Station redevelopment: Railways is also redeveloping stations to include amenities like like WiFi, food centres, kiosks, restaurants etc.

8. Ensuring Hygiene and Sanitation:Railways is committed to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and therefore 2,400 toilets will be constructed in circulating areas of Stations. Toilets will also be Divyang friendly and will have low-cost sanitary pads dispenser, incinerator condom vending machines.please watch this . share and subscribe.
