At least 13 people were killed and a rural village in Ghana was leveled after a truck carrying explosives blew up.

The truck was transporting explosives to the nearby Chirano gold mine, owned by Toronto-based Kinross Gold Corporation, according to police.

It’s not immediately clear what caused the explosion, but police said a motorcycle had crashed into the truck and caught fire.

The government is investigating whether regulations covering the transport of explosives were followed.
