Obituary

Claire Louise Banks of Boynton Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2021. She was 85 years old.

She was born to the late Edward and Marion Loveland in Kent, Ohio on August 30, 1936. Claire graduated from Stow High School in Stow, Ohio in 1955. She went on to complete a degree at the Culinary Institute of America in 1957 in New Haven, Connecticut, where she met her beloved husband of 64 years, Frank Arthur Banks. Claire is also survived by five children, ten grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

Claire's greatest priorities were always her relationship with Jesus Christ, and her family. During their 64 years of marriage, Frank and Claire lived a life of hospitality. They owned the Yankee Pedlar Inn in Holyoke, Massachusetts from 1977 - 1990, where she created the Yankee Pedlar Gift Shop, including the annual pop-up Christmas Shop. In the 1980's, Frank and Claire were members of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Springfield on Plumtree Rd. Claire was a key member of Campus Crusade for Christ's Executive Ministries, and played a role in getting Billy Graham to bring his crusade to the Springfield area in 1982.

During their 20 years living in New York City, Claire was an active member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church, ran the meals ministry and led women's Bible studies. One of Claire's longest roles was to support Frank in his career as he manageed hotels in New York, including the St. Regis Hotel, The Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, and the RIHGA Royal Hotel. Frank and Claire enjoyed many culinary and travel adventures to Israel, japan, Australia, Europe, and on cruises.

Frank and Claire owned a home on Cape Cod in Massachusetts from 1969 - 2017. They were members of Christ Chapel in Centerville until 2017. Claire had a sweet spirit and she leaves a legacy of faith and beauty with each one of her children and grandchildren.
