Bonnie and Clyde Commerce, Oklahoma Shootout (PART 6)

Bonnie and Clyde drove to Commerce, Oklahoma five days after Henry Methvin killed two motorcycle policemen in Grapevine, Texas. The press were merciless in their coverage and their reputations were in shambles. When they reached Commerce they encountered torrential rains and pulled over for the night. The next morning police chief Percy Boyd and Constable Cal Campbell stopped to see what they were up to. Watch to see what happened.

This is part 6 of a series covering Bonnie and Clyde’s activities in the Tri-state area (Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma). Video 1 and 2 dealt with the Joplin shootout on April 13, 1933.

Video 3 deals with a comically bad bank robbery in Oronogo, Missouri on July 31, 1932.

Video 4 discusses the kidnapping of Springfield, Missouri policeman Tom Persell on January 26, 1933.

Video 5 sets up this episode and covers the killings in Grapevine. Though not in the Tri-state area I felt it was important to know about to understand what happened in Commerce, so I gave it its own episode.
