we keep talking about how to understand your cat about your cat's behavior and why cats behave in certain way which sometimes we people think strange ways of cat behavior and today uh a few notes about specifically about why cats love sleeping on your bed get sleeping on my bed why what does it mean in this case we're not talking about sleeping with you at night in this case we're talking about when you okay come you know to your couch to your sofa or to your bed and it's already taken because cat is right there on top of it laying down and just you know taking the whole bed for itself what does it mean now that's probably the simplest explanation is because of domination and control and ownership and territory cats are territorial because they are hunters and they need to dominate because they they have dominated nature and especially male cats and so if they see very often that you their owner and for them is you are their pet they own you so when they see that you their pet is very often lying down on the bed on the couch it's like taking place uh when cat takes that place essentially it asserts its domination it's like you know i love you i like you but you know what i am cat i am most important person here this is my territory you are mine and like i'm head of that of the of the pride and i have taken that spot so that's why they see that you are doing it and they take the spot another explanation is that cats are kind of learning from us all right so i heard this other explanation because cats are learning from us they see that we do certain things and they sometimes repeat our things that we do they do it themselves right the patterns of behavior they try to adopt from us too because they adaptive by nature they try to adapt to live with us because we feed them so they think if they probably they think whatever you call thinking they instinctively if they do if they adjust their behavior they will get better treatment better food and so on because you know they adapt by nature and that's why they see that we are sleeping on the bed or we are sleeping on the couch and they do the same thing because they both want to repeat what we do to adopt their behavior and also at the same time they want to assert their territory so pretty much when you know cat sleeping on my bed uh it means that he wants that territory for himself or herself and the same time they try to kind of imitate our behavior because you know if we sleep there then probably it's a sleeping place probably there is something good about it well it's warm i know it's nice and it's it's uh flat and it's comfortable it's not hard so they they do understand comfort cats understand comfort very well they like to be in comfort even more so than the dogs and they feel that this is a comfortable place to be and they see us you know using that bed or so for for you know laying down and relaxing and they essentially do the same thing all right they're learning from us sometimes they do sometimes they don't but most often they do and pretty much that explains it you know these two reasons domination uh territorial domination and adjusting and adapting and learning from us that's probably two more main reasons why sometimes we see cats lying on our bed exactly when we wanted to lie on the bed and relax so um we do you know in terms of this behavior in this case you need to assert your domination all right you need to move your cat even if it bites you gotta show the cat that this is place where you sleep cat can sleep on top of you if you want to although some some some veterinarians do not recommend that but this is your territory so you must have your territories not only cats you know what i mean so uh that's what it is and it's nothing unusual pretty much all cats do that i'll see you in the next video see links below in description of this video about more cats and cat stuff
