Dadong Mountain stands at 1,241m above sea level. It is the highest mountain in Tainan City and one of the Top 100 Lower Mountains in Taiwan. Along the trail are low-altitude broad-leaf forests. The warm and humid climate allows the plants to grow lush and big. It is about a 700 m climb from Xianzu Temple to the peak of Dadong Shan. Distance is some 4.5 km (one-way). The trail stays in the forest most of the time allowing for a hike in the shade. Consequently, outlooks into the plain are rare. The peak is surrounded by high trees obstructing any view. Xianzu Temple 紫雲殿仙祖廟 elevation 500 m AMSL, Dadong Mountain 大凍山 elevation 1241 m AMSL.
