I'm so excited! I finally got my hands on my grandparents vintage vacuum! The Kirby G5 has some amazing military and NASA tech inside of it. Vacuum company Kirby has worked with NASA to make some of their models more powerful. For example, they teamed up with what is now the Glenn Research Center in Ohio to test air flow through a simulated wind tunnel. The result is a new blade design, which ended up in Kirby’s G5 model (you're hearing it now, IN STEREO). Powerful! The new blade was more than 300 percent stronger than its predecessors, and it needed to be; vacuum cleaner blades can run as high as 18,000 spins per minute (a whopping 300 per second), compared with merely 7,000 to 8,000 in a jet engine.
