If your budget doesn't allow you the opportunity to have an external recorder or wireless system, then this might be an alternative for you. This works great for GoPro, DJI Action, Pocket Osmo and other cameras that don't offer the best on-board audio or that lack an audio jack. Like a lot of the Sony RX100 cameras. Also can give you an extra recorder for interviews or for recording background sounds. Very versatile.
The app, RecForge II Pro, from the Google Play Store solved a problem for me.
My Osmo Pocket mic wasn't great for vlogging, and I didn't want to carry around an external recorder all the time. So this was a good solution and cheap!
You can use this solution as your main recording system or to supplement other recorders.
Different phones have different recording options, so be sure and check to see if your phone has audio recording options that can affect RecForge.
