Maximize efficiency by customizing your AutoCAD Shortcut Commands. In this short 5-minute tutorial for AutoCAD and Civil 3D I will show you how to use Edit Aliases to customize the shortcut commands you use every day so you can be as efficient as possible.

Below I have listed out the shortcuts I use daily, and I also have the step-by-step process of customizing the shortcut commands in Edit Aliases. Feel free to tell me what you come up with so we can help each other improve!

My Custom Shortcuts:
W MOVE
R ROTATE
T MTEXT
TF POLYLINE
FF OFFSET
EAD MLEADER
DST DISTANCE
G JOIN
V LINE
ED PEDIT

Step-by-Step
Open the “Manage” tab on the top of the screen.
In the “Customization” tab expand the “Edit Aliases” pulldown and select “Edit Aliases”
This will open a text file that can also be found here:
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\C3D 2022\enu\Support\acad.pgp
*** RECOMMEND MAKING COPY OF FILE BEFORE GOING ANY FURTHUR ***
Scroll down to shortcuts and edit (make sure the desired shortcut is not already in use)
Save file
In AutoCAD type REINIT to open Re-initialization dialog box
Select “PGP File” and click OK
Done!
