Event Photography: The Best Time to Shoot

Hearts are racing. Maybe you’ll see all the club homies. Or you’ll find a special someone to tear the night in half. Shirts are tucked and crispy. Eye shadow’s still in place. DJ after DJ—it's a perfect nite.
Then, your night dies after the house lights explode on.
As the inebriated crowd shuffles away, a great street photog will act.

The best part of event photography is when the show ends.

That’s when we can capture exhaustion, disappointment and vapid emptiness. The party has to end. But that end sits at the edge of hope, where we can build ourselves up and fight through to another weekend. The dark shadows of a club nite gives adults time to play, create a new self or sense of belonging. When it all comes crashing down we, as photogs, can capture someone’s fall from grace, or the ability to again dream of disappearing into a collective moment. These are our nights, we make the waves.

Until next time I’ll see you in the streets.
