The Black Midge is a wonderful fly for fishing streams when they are off color. Usually, in the early spring with a lot of rain and run off the streams are cloudy and somewhat muddy. That is the time to fish a black fly and the Black Midge is just that fly if you are wanting to cast soft hackle flies to trout. It is a simple pattern to tie, only two materials and in no time you can have a dozen of these tied and ready to fish. - Enjoy
