Janelle Shellem, mother of a 9th grade Edmond, Oklahoma public high school student, found that several of the books 9th graders were being offered to students for their Literature Circle assignment were DECIDEDLY R-RATED. Janelle researched every book on the list. In this video interview, Janelle explains her experience reading the books and her encounters with EPS Administration in her quest to make her objections known. This is a MUST SEE video for every parent with a child in public education.

Janelle's book reviews have all been uploaded to ROPE's SCRIBD account and you can find them all here: https://www.scribd.com/user/26798318/...
(To Kill A Mockingbird - They Both Die In The End - The House On Mango Street - Punching The Air - Love, Hate and Other Filters - Farewell To Manzanar - Dreamland Burning - All American Boys - A Separate Peace)

NOTE: Janelle reviewed "Love, Hate and Other Filters" but it was NOT on the booklist for 9th grade.
